My Mawma use to tease me and say she was going to put a picture of me in the newspaper. Maybe for my 16th birthday or something. Sounds innocent enough right? WRONG! THE picture was just horrible. I was little..like less than 3 maybe. (I hope) I was eating a fudge popsicle while laying on the couch. I was naked. Yeah yeah..laugh!! I don't care!!! Luckily, she never actually published the picture.

As a mommy, I have pictures of my babies in their birthday suits. Its just so sweet!!! Perfectly soft skin. Chubby rolls. And lets be honest, its about the only time in your life that chubby rolls are desired!!! And this little one has the cutest chubby rolls I have ever seen!!!

I love the look on her face. She put up with alot yesterday! I cant believe how well she did. She is about 8 1/2 months old, and my very own 7 month old will NOT hold still for me like she did. I could lay around and snap pictures of her all day!

And the middle sister. She reminds me of my middle child. She has such a free spirit. Thank you for the nature walk!! I will bring my camera with me for our next playdate. We can sneak off and take some pictures of you and Flicka. Sound like fun?

Teribithia

I felt like a kid yesterday. It was just like being 10 years old again. Crawling through the bushes, weaving in and out of branches and vines. It was my own Teribitia. It was huge. The "woods" behind my house growing up...they were huge. I named all of the waters and its islands. I named the trees. It was my own little country and I was the boss.

It seems that the S. kids have that as well. I was delighted when their mama agreed to let them model for me. I asked three of her five beautiful kids where we could go take some awesome pictures. They led me deep into their own little piece of the world. We crawled through the bushes. We weaved in and out of branches and vines. They named each nook and cranny. They knew it like the back of their hand.

Here are a few from yesterday's adventure. The two boys. They were so cooperative and how could you get a bad picture from them? They are so handsome!! I will share the girls tomorrow. This is just a tiny bit...

My shoulders hurt. My back hurts. My eyes...oh my poor, poor eyes. My house is so far from its normal cleanishness (yeah I made up that word), and we may or may not have clean clothes for tomorrow. But my new blogsite is SO CLOSE to being done. Of course, I decided to take on one more project right now. Hey why not? Why not redecorate the living room? Sure! I'm running in all directions at once.

I am so excited about the new direction my business is taking!

A style all of their own

My mom tells me that when I was younger I was very particular about my style. I was very concerned about all of my clothing matching. Down to my socks and panties. If I wore pink, it all had to be pink. (Pink was my favorite color, of course) My room was always picked up and clean.

Naturally, I did the same thing with my own girls. I dont hesitate in saying that they were very well dressed when they were younger. Always matching. Always clean. Their hair was always fixed. Loved it!!

So, you would think that my girls would take after their Mama. That they would desire a clean and matching wardrobe. Perhaps they would strive to keep their room clean.

*insert wild laughter and finger pointing*

If you know my girls, you know they do not fit this description. Briana could care less if her layers of clothing match. Yes, layers. Many layers. Both on her body and her head. She is known for wearing several hair accessories that dont match or belong together. She can be...whats the word....creative with her wardrobe.

And then there is Avah. Sweet Avah Nicole. Avah would be a nudist if she were allowed. Really, she could. She is the total opposite of Briana when it comes to her hair. She does not like to have her hair brushed or fixed. I have begged this child to cut her hair. She agreed...but she told the stylist to cut it long to the floor...sigh....

Yesterday, we took the kids to see a movie and out for lunch. While Juan was busy getting the girls settled at the table, I took Samuel to the ladies room for a diaper change. Well, there was a line..but Sam didn't mind. He used this as an opportunity to practice his flirting skills. Of course, he was practicing on a bunch of pretty college girls. One girl couldn't help flirting back... When she was able to quit gazing into his eyes, she looked up at me and said...
Wow! He is a lady killer!

I kind of agree.

Growing..they just keep on growing...

Yesterday was Samuel's 7 month "birthday"...I still can not believe he is this old. He is crawling, sitting, pulling up (only in his crib), and getting into anything and everything he can. He is still full of smiles! He squeals, laughs, and screams. It's pretty darn cute!

We had some pretty great weather yesterday, so we decided to take a few pictures of the growing boy. I have more, but its late...and it has been a LONG day! So, for now, I will share 2. The first is a VERY good example of what I see from this kid many MANY times a day! He is by far the happiest baby I have ever met!

After we got done with his mini photo shoot (you have to keep them mini when its your own child...they dont like the camera as much as other peoples children), we walked out to the shop. The closer we got, the faster he kicked and the louder he squealed. He was ready to see this man...he loves his great Grandpa. I do too!

Twenty-ten? Two thousand ten? Two thousand AND ten? I havent quite figured out how I will say it. I find myself saying two thousand ten but wishing I was cooler and said twenty-ten.... Regardless of how you say it, a new year brings a feeling of newness. A fresh feeling that says I can do it this time! It brings change...hopefully for the better! Have you ever heard of the "mommy fog" or "mommy brain"? After you have kids, the ability to think clearly seems to disapear..and it gets worse with each child! Well, it has for me. I find myself in the middle of a conversation and I have NO idea what was just said. By myself, or the person I am talking to! Its strange...embarrasing...and really annoying! The worst part is that it seems this problem has migrated over to my blogging abilities. I started a super awesome cloth diapering info series and I never finished it! I got caught up with school and the holidays....and......you know...um...what was I saying again? sigh...

Anyway, I promise that I will get that series finished soon! I have some diapers coming in the mail for Samuel...a gift for Christmas (that may or may not be here in time...ugh) so once they are here, I will finish the series! I will!!!

And, because who doesnt like a picture..here is one of the reasons I have lost my ability to communicate fully!

As a child, I was blessed with great birthday and Christmas gifts. It was always SO much fun to see what was in that box! I remember jumping up and down screeching because I got a Baby Alive! I am pretty sure my sister and I ran laps around Granny Hazel's living room...screaming YES! YES! OMG! YES! Im not sure if it was the doll that got us so excited or the fact that it was a surprise...isnt that always fun? To be taken off guard and get something you really wanted? I was also blessed with a family full of big mouths. You know...those who cant keep secrets well? I was usually NOT surprised by gifts given to me by my cousins because the "hints" were pretty obvious! Yeah, you know who you are.....Grandma...Valerie....uh huh! Im allowed to call you out! Why? Because I am one of you too! Its SO hard to keep this under wraps!!! I just want to sneak in a clue...a hint..
About a week ago I decided to it was time to take the kids pictures so that I wouldnt be rushed to order them for Christmas. I know you are thinking...um a week before Christmas? That isnt rushed? Well...no not for me! So we got dressed and not a single image worked. No biggie...we could try again later! Yesterday we attempted round 2. Nothing... So today, thankfully, the sun was shining so we headed outside. SURELY I could get something outside!!! It worked! They were so happy to be outside they would have taken a million pictures if it meant they could soak up the sun and splash in the mud! YAY! So..here are a few..um..hints! I wont share the best ones because they are gifts for some very lucky family members...but here are a few since I cant keep secrets very well. ....it runs in the family...

So, last year my blog and website received a huge makeover. It was glorious! Just before Samuel was born, I decided I would no longer be photographing weddings. This was a huge change for my business because 70% of my business was weddings!! Since this decision was made, I have closed my website and I have been re-creating Brandi Tejeda Photography...sort of. It has been sort of frustrating, because I feel like I just did this! And, I did! But, it has also been really fun. I feel like I have found what I really love doing. Portraits. Of people..just being themselves. I have also realized I dont want a website. Dont panic all 6 of my readers...I will still be blogging. I am moving my blog soon. And my blog will become a blog-site. My website and my blog got married and had a baby...a blog-site. Its going to be WONDERFUL! Everything all together...no more linking to a website or a shopping cart. All in one! This all in one awesomeness wont be a reality until after the first of the year...complete with some great changes for my business! I am trying to make things as simple as possible! I have not decided if I will MOVE the blog, or just start a new one. This new blog-site isnt really a contiuation of what is already here. Its full of change and a new way of doing things. What do you think? Should I move it? Should I start a new blog? Let me know in that super cool comment box down there... :) I love comments!!

I had the sweet pleasure of photographing this family last week. The kids are precious and they get it from their parents! I did not know this family prior to photographing them, but I am so happy to have met them! The kids are non stop..I only wish I had a handful of their energy. Cloth Diapers - Part Three

Washing Wool!

Wool makes a wonderful diaper cover. I didnt use wool very much with Avah. It scared me. It seemed complicated to wash and care for. It was expensive. I thought she would be way too hot since we live in Texas (or..the surface of the sun)...I was wrong. Its easy to care for. It can be expensive..but I refuse to get caught up in that so I buy used pieces or plain pieces or pieces that have been accidently shrunk and will not fit their toddler..but will fit my infant. I also search for large wool sweaters that I can turn into covers with a little cutting and sewing. Sam never gets hot in his wool. Wool breathes easy. It keeps you cool in the heat and warm in the cold. Its naturally waterproof (you do have to keep it lanolized though) and it is darn cute! We dont own a lot of wool that he can wear right now. Most pieces that I have are waiting for him to grow into. The beauty of well lanolized wool is that he can wear it, it gets damp, you lay it out to dry, and its ready to wear again. I can usually get about 1 week out of my covers before washing again. Thats right...wool is self cleaning! Amazing right? So lets get to the way I clean my wool. I dont have a wool wash bar. You can use one if you want...I may one day...at this moment, if Sam gets poop or dirt (which doesnt happen yet since he pretty much stays where I put him) on his wool, I just wash the piece off that has the poop on it, and stick it in the window to dry. Why the window? The sun takes care of that stain! Remember people...sun = free bleach. But when I notice the wool isnt doing its job as well as it should be..which is to keep the pee on the inside of the diaper..I wash it. Here is how I do it

Gather what I need. Which is only the wool that needs washing and my wool wash. I use Northern Essence. I like this wool wash because it is a wash and lanolin all in one. I also like that I can buy it locally at Cloud 9 Baby in College Station. Tell Joanna I sent ya! :) She is so sweet and has the cutest little shop. The bottle I have right now is "Fresh Linen" scent. Love it!

I fill the sink about 1/2 way with warmish water and shake the bottle of wool wash while its filling. I squirt about 50 cents worth (2 quarter size squirts to be clear) and swish it around with my hand. Before I dry my hands off, I rub them together like I am putting on lotion! The lanolin makes my hands oh so soft!! Bonus!! Then I put the wool into the sink and squish it down making sure its soaked. (Ignore my sink. Its not dirty..just old and stained. I promise!) Oh and the water will look milky.

After about 1/2 an hour..sometimes more if Im busy and forget (that NEVER happens!) I go back to take out the wool. Drain your sink..unless yours is super cool like mine and it drains itself. (nice huh?) Carefully squeeze out the excess. DO NOT RINSE! You want to keep all that yummy lanolin in the wool! Then I lay it out on a towel.

Now you carefully roll it up. Like a jelly roll. (that sounds good...I should make one!) I kind of press on it and roll it over and over. Gets all the excess out so it doesnt take days to dry.

Now its clean, fresh, lanolized and WET! So I hang it up to dry. If its not stained I hang it over my stool that is stored behind my door. If its stained, I hang it in a sunny window (unless its dyed wool...then I dont worry THAT much about stains on the inside. the sun will fade the dye!!) It usually takes our wool about 24 hours to be totally dry...sometimes a little more if its really humid.

And just for fun..here is a picture of some of Sam's wool. He is wearing a pair right now, and is sleeping so here are the ones that currently fit. The others are stored away, and I'm far too lazy to dig them out. I promise I will when he is big enough to wear them!

There are many different types of wool. And just as many styles. Just google Wool Diaper Cover and trust me...there is SO much out there. BEAUTIFUL handmade longies and shorties. I drool over them...but I am too cheap. haha! In the picture below you can see the cream shorties made my Disana. These are my MOST favorite. They arent super cute and stylish...but they are bullet proof. Sam wears them overnight and we never have a leak! LOVE those things! And OMG so soft!!

Today I will describe my laundry routine. Alot of people hear I use cloth diapers and they wrinkle their nose and say OMG what do you do with the poop? First of all, Samuel is breastfed and that means his poo is not yucky! I dont have to swish my diapers in the toliet or do any crazy pre-wash routine. I take the dirty or wet diaper off of Sam and throw it in a diaper pail. The pail is lined with a pail liner. Then on wash day (which is about every other day for us) I dump the whole thing in the washer...pail liner and all.
1. I run a COLD (so you dont set in stains) rinse cycle just to kind of get all the yuck off
2. Run a HOT heavy soiled cycle with a whole scoop of Tide, a capful of Calgon, and a squirt of liquid Dawn original blue dish soap.
Here is where I do things diferently. Tide is listed as a no-no detergent because it contains enzymes. Well..I have super hard water. All of those wonderful crunchy, save the earth but not your wallet kind of detergents just dont get the job done for me. I have tried just about every detergent out there that is "safe" for diapers...and not a single one will get my diapers clean and fresh. Tide does a great job and my diapers last long enough to use through 2 kids so far...No..they dont all look brand new (the ones I passed down) but they are diapers. They get pee and poo on them regularly and they get washed often. I feel like if they make it through 2 kids I got more than my moneys worth! I also use a WHOLE scoop of Tide. Some people use 2 teaspoons or 1 tablespoon or a 1/4 of the reccomended amount to wash their diapers. More power to them if that works. I cant seem to get the poo smell out if I use that little bit of detergent. This could be because I have very hard and mineral rich water. I dont know...
3. Run a couple of extra rinse cycles until all the soap is out. Usually around 2 for me. Depends on the amount and type of diapers I have in the wash.
4. I like to hang my diapers on the line to dry. I dont always get to do that...sometimes there is rain or its just too cold or even too hot. Or maybe the kids are going crazy in the house and I cant take the time to hang them. Or maybe I waited too long to wash and NEED diapers like NOW! So sometimes I use the dryer. But let me tell you...if there is a stain...it goes right out on the line, or in a sunny window. The sun is like free and safe bleach! It gets all our stains out!!

So that is how I get our diapers super clean!

Most you know that we use cloth diapers. I adore cloth diapers. Yes, they can save you money, they are better for baby, they are environmentaly friendly...but to be honest, I use them because they are darn cute! I love ALL things cloth diaper...I could talk about them forever. I love when people ask me about them...so I decided to create a series of blog posts that describe what diapers I use, how I use them, how I clean them, where we store them, and so forth! Today Im starting with cloth wipes. I chose not to use disposeable wipes because I kept getting store bought wipes mixed in with my diaper laundry. Not a huge deal...but still annoying to peel the pieces of wipes off my clean diapers. Plus...they work MUCH better. Imagine that! I dont know why I was so suprised! Cloth diapers work way better for us...why wouldnt the wipes? Anyway, here is a little picture demo of how I prepare the wipes for use. I have to do this about once every 3 days. I use a wipe warmer because Sam likes them warm..wouldnt you? But you could do this in an old wipe container if you wanted. I also bought wipe solution cubes from a work at home mom. Mine is scented with tea tree oil and lavender. Yummy!! Smells so clean!
The best part is..the tea tree oil keeps mildew and mold from growing. Ok so here ya go!

Ok here is all you need to create warm, soft, effective wipes!! A coffee mug to melt the wipe cubes, 2 wipe cubes ( I find 2 work better for us), wipe warmer, pile of wipes.

wipes can be made from all sorts of things. There are super fancy wipes made with velour and bamboo and a million other expensive fabrics...but I use gerber rags and flannel. Its not that I dont care what wipes my son's bottom...I just find these work just as well and are soft enough for us! Plus, they are cheap enough to replace often if I want a change!

I place as many wipes as I can fit in while they are still dry... once I wet them, I can add more.

next I add about 2 oz of water in the mug and put the two cubes in the mug. microwave for 30 seconds. Then I add more water to fill the mug.
After that, I pour the whole mug in the wipe warmer over the wipes. Fill the cup again, and pour it all over the wipes. At this point, there is water on top of the wipes, so I add more wipes on top to soak it up. I turn them over a few times and tuck dry wipes in different places in the pile! Then I take it and plug it in to warm up. Green light = happy wipes!

Next to the wipe warmer is my accessory station. Top drawer holds hand wipes (for getting icky fuzz from inside his hands. Since he keeps them shut all the time, it can get smelly), snappies ( I will explain later), and pins

Second drawer holds diaper cremes, wool wash (explain later), thermometer, guaze pads..things like this..

Here is the whole drawer system. 5.00 from walmart. great investment!

weeks! ahhh! Where has time gone? My sweet newborn is growing so fast. He is such chunk! I have to brag because he is just the sweetest little baby EVER! Always happy and always smiling. I just laugh at him all the time because he make the funniest faces. Below, there are some that look like cries. Those are his fake cries. He makes the face...but nothing comes out. Its so cute, and they are usually followed by big grins! Somehow, I couldnt get a big grin out of him today...he is camera shy ;)

Well, Sam is now one month old! I cant believe it! This means I am now taking clients again. There are some changes though. I have decided I am no longer photographing weddings. In the future this could change. I will be taking clients for standard portrait sessions such as children, newborns, families, seniors, engagement, and even bridals. I will be adding information about my services to this blog ASAP. I am currently giving my portfolio a makeover, so my website will be temporarily down. Today is my sweet Avah's birthday! I almost cant believe she is 3! Avah is such a delight. She is funny and sweet. She is such a tiny little thing..but she is as tough as a nail. She rarely wears clothes or hair bows. I do try...but she comes out of them as soon as she possibly can! She is happiest when she is dirty or getting dirty! She loves "hee haws" (horses) and "kiddens" (kittens)..and grandpas...she has so many! All 4 of them adore her of course! I could go on and on about this sweet kiddo. This monkey is a very well rounded little girl! I love you Avah! Happy Birthday! May you have a wonderful year and many more birthdays.

First of all..sorry for being MIA for like a month now! Im going to do my very best to get back to blogging again!

Now..for the big news!

Wednesday, August 5, 2009 we welcomed our newest family member! Samuel Thane Tejeda was born at 1:30 PM weighing 8 lbs, 10 oz and 20 1/4 inches long. He was quite the big baby! I did not expect that at all!! We had a very short but intense labor...but thankfully he arrived with no complications. I spent the entire pregnancy praying and hoping to go into labor on my own..as I have never done that before. On the Sunday before he was born....I felt very anxious and nervous and worried..just not right. So Monday I had the strongest feeling that I needed to be induced. I cant explain it. So, I scheduled it with my doctor and got to the hospital at 5am on Wednesday. We started the induction at 6:30am and I spent 6 hours in labor. After 6 hours of painful contractions we discovered Sam was taking his time. At 1PM I was only at 5cm and in a great deal of pain. I requested an epidural...but after only 5 minutes of waiting for the epidural, I felt pushy. Sure enough...time to push. We did have some problems with his shoulders...but a little patience and alot of pushing and he was here! He is such a sweet baby boy. I am completly in love with him. The girls are gaga over him! He fits right in.
We have yet to take his official newborn pictures...maybe tonight...but here is one to hold you over.

There is SO much going on right now. I cant even tell you what my house looks like. There is stuff everywhere. There is a microwave on my couch. Sheets drape all the big furniture. My beddroom looks like a cardboard factory...there are so many boxes in there! I hope we get this ALL done very soon. It looks like the baby is already getting ready to come! I have 30 days until my due date... tick tick tick...

I have no more room for the baby to grow. I just dont understand how Im suppose to fit an eight pound baby in this belly that refuses to grow! I mean, I FEEL him getting bigger as my tummy just gets tighter! EXPAND belly! EXPAND! It would be so much more comfortable if my belly would sort of morph into a normal pregnant belly. The rest of my body has been MORE than happy to expand! But whats up with the main part of my pregnant body refusing to grow? Seriously folks...if this little guy (who doesnt feel so little anymore) grows another inch or gains another pound my stomach my just explode and he will be born through my belly button just like Briana and Avah have predicted. Baby boy is currently lodged in my ribs and hips and I am pretty sure he likes to pretend my bladder is a drum. Thats because my belly just wont grow! Now, I know most women dont want their stomachs to grow....so this sounds totally insane! But for the sake of breathing, eating, sitting, and sleeping, I am begging mine to do just that! So please...belly..grow!

yes...its true. I admit it. I am completely addicted to car seats. That being said...deciding which car seat to buy for the baby has been very hard on me. Why you ask? Because..the options are endless! I mean...endless! Don't tell Juan, but I was secretly thrilled when I realized my infant seat that the girls used was going to expire this year. I was more than happy to give it to a cousin to use until it expired. By the way..Melinda...if you are using that carseat...stop! I think its expired by now! So of course, that meant I needed to hunt down a new seat. Now...I have always used an infant carrier. I decided not to use one this time around. So..that helped narrow things down since many convertible carseats dont fit newborns properly. This also meant I couldnt buy a carseat made by my beloved Britax. I'm completely in love with the 2 Britax carseats I own. The girls love them too. But they dont fit newborn babies very well (shame on you Britax! shame shame!) So for the past 5 or so months I've been stuck trying to decide between 2 wonderful carseats. One I can buy right now online...easy peasy. The other is possibly being released this week? I dont know...they keep changing the date! grr! Yeah, I stalk the website waiting for the ship date to read todays date! But, then Graco had to come out with the USA's first convertible carseat that rear faces all the way up to 40 lbs! I mean YAY! Im a firm believer in keeping my kids rear facing for as long as possible. Avah..who is almost 3 but only 29 lbs still rear faces in her beautiful Britax Marathon. Of course, she only has about 3 lbs before I have to turn her forward facing...boo! But the new Graco would keep her RF all the way up to 40lbs! So..now I have to decide between 3 wonderful carseats. Whats a gal to do? If I was made of money I would totally buy all 3. Yeah...I would. Actually I would probably own like 3 or 4 carseats for each child if I was made of money. But...Im not so I really have to choose just one. Lets pray I make this choice BEFORE the baby is born. Cant you just see it now? Sitting in the hospital bed with a new baby in one arm and a laptop in the other...frantically trying to decide which carseat to have overnighted to my house. LOL! geez...
So..if you read all this, thanks! If not...I totally understand. Not many people enjoy reading or even thinking about carseats...but..when you are an addict...........

BIG changes

Things are changing around here! Im getting bigger! My house seems to be getting smaller! haha! We have shelves being built and screens being replaced. Paint is being scraped and trim is being installed. Walls are changing colors and pictures will be re-hung. Diapers are being stacked and itty clothes are being folded. With only 10 weeks to go until the baby is due..we are busy busy! Its not easy being busy when you are 30 weeks pregnant and not in the best shape! I have discoverd that pregnancy changes each time! Being pregnant with the girls was a breeze. This time....not so much! I wont bore you with my aches and pains! I'm just looking forward to meeting our little man. Pictures are coming soon! I just need to get all of this finished!!

Not only are changes going on in my personal life..but Im making changes to my business as well. I have a few announcements coming in the near future!

This is just to hold you over...there is alot going on around here and posting to this blog has become something I just dont have time for at the moment. Makes me sad though! I hope to play a good game of catchup someday soon. We have many projects going on including growing a baby! We have about 11 weeks to go until the baby is due. There is so much to do before he gets here! Its very overwhelming at the moment!!

I surely don't blame you if you have stopped following my VERY boring blog! For whatever reason, I just cant get around to posting ANYTHING. We ARE still alive. Everyone is just fine.

The girls are doing great.

They have moved outdoors now...they come inside to eat every so often and they still sleep here...but they pretty much live outside now. Its been quite nice because the house stays much cleaner! haha!

Avah is a big girl now..she no longer requires diapers. Not only is she a big girl..she is an independent girl as well. She potty trained herself! That's right!!! Smart kid! Lazy mom...who knows.

As for mom..I'm doing pretty good these days. The morning/day/night sickness has gone away for the most part. I'm able to eat..and I'm able to eat a lot of food! Food I don't normally eat. Like catfish. My latest discovery is how wonderful that stuff is! Before this month, I couldn't stand it. Oh! It was awful! But..now, I must have it at least once a week. Scary right? I think this baby likes fish. Which makes his daddy VERY proud! He has waited patiently for a fishing buddy!!!

I am starting to get a little bit of a belly. Sometimes you can tell I'm pregnant. Most of the time, I just look like I eat too much. Which, isn't totally untrue.

I do feel a little bit of kicking and wiggling and squirming going on. He is pretty active. Nothing major or painful yet. Those days will come soon!

I'm almost 20 weeks..1/2 way there!

Along with kicks and wiggles comes heartburn and headaches. But that's ok. MUCH better than the morning/day/night sickness I had up until about 2 weeks ago. MUCH better.

Juan is doing good as well. Busy with work.

He won 4 tickets to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo!!! We are going on Thursday. Cant wait! Brad Paisley is performing..I hear he is great live! I'm really more interested in the food.

The rest of the family is doing well. If you wouldn't mind, my Mawma could use prayers. Just pray for good health and lots and lots of strength. Thanks!!

Photography related business is going slow right now. But...I wanted it that way this year. So, this isn't a complaint!

I'm really enjoying this free time with the girls and its great to have extra time to get ready for the little man's arrival. I really don't know how to prepare for a boy...but its fun learning! I have started his diaper stash. Newborn cloth is soooooooo cute and squishy! I will take pictures of the stash soon! So fun!!

So, that's a short update of whats going on around here. I really should give this blog a little more attention...I know. I will try! I keep saying that...

Is this for real? Am I really about to be a mommy to a baby BOY? Thats right!!! We found out yesterday that this little bun in the oven is a itty bitty baby boy with really long feet! We were amazed that he was laying head down, allowing us to see clearly that he was in fact a HE. He also gave us a nice little piggy show. He "walked" across the screen and all who were in the exam room were amazed at the size of this little guys feet! It was so cute!!!

Anyone still read this sad excuse for a blog? I don't blame you if you have deleted me from your reader..haha! BORING much? Well...perhaps things will pick up soon. I have several sessions and a couple weddings to post. I hope to get to them before 2010. Things are starting to look brighter around here. Every moment of every day isn't ruined by nausea...and I have some days where I feel pretty darn good for most of the day! I am at about 12.5 weeks now. So it can only get better..I hope! I have an appt. tomorrow for another ultrasound. I cant wait to see the little booger who is causing all these wonderful feelings. haha! Can you tell I'm not the happiest when I'm pregnant? Yes I'm very happy about whats to come..but the process doesn't mix well with me. lol

Briana celebrated her 5th..yes thats right..her 5th birthday on the 16th. I cant believe it! Her party is this Saturday. She is having her first "big girl" party. Which means its mostly children and not a bunch of adults eating BBQ. She is pretty darn excited. She has requested a pair of "skate shoes" and a bubble machine. I am pretty sure I know how to take care of the shoe situation..not so sure on the bubble machine. I asked for clarity..she just said You know..a bubble machine mom! duh! She is every bit of 5 and then some these days. I barely made it through her birthday. I kept looking back on her birth pictures. And in the middle of my breakdown, she gave me some WONDERFUL news. the kind of news every parent wants to hear and believe. She said, "mom you know its good that I'm five now. Five year olds listen to their moms"....gasp! Really? I cant wait to see! It lasted all of 2 days. She is back to ignoring me completely now.

Avah is doing well. She is still terrorizing us as always. she is a bit of a daredevil. A bit of a drama queen as well. this is a very interesting combination. She is still about 80% monkey. But we love her! She is excited about the baby in my tummy. She asks about 100 times a day if the baby is still in my tummy. I asked her once if she was ready for the baby to come out. She said the baby cant come out. He is stuck. LOL! Sure feels that way!

Well, I hope you have enjoyed our little update. I should include pictures..but I need to get some rest! I will be sharing MANY pictures very soon! Take care!

I can get this off my chest! I have been DYING here! I had to wait to share my BIG news because we decided to incorporate it into our Christmas gifts. Well..if you haven't figured it out already..We are expecting again! I'm almost 9 weeks pregnant! We are due August 1, 2009! Juan and I are very excited and feel very blessed. As for the mother-to-be-again...I'm feeling quite lousy. I hate to complain...but I'm sick sick sick! Its no fun. I look forward to January...as I should start feeling much better by then. I will be sure to post u/s pictures and belly shots soon!

Someone once called me a procrastinator....now...I know I have a tendency to push things off until the last minute...yes..I'm the one who is praying for the floors to dry and shoving things in the spare room minutes before guests arrive. I'm the one who pushes the sleep button at least 6 times before getting up..and then complains because I'm running late. I'm the one who does their Christmas shopping all at once...the last week before Christmas...every year...

Ok so..I guess I do sound like a tiny bit of a procrastinator. I thought I would share with you what a day in the life of a procrastinator looks like. And not just any day...Christmas Eve Eve. Yes...today. I have more to do today than there are hours in the day. Its really unbelievable. Let me start by saying I planned on getting up at 7am. It is now 9:39am and I am sitting here in my jammies and robe. I have lost 2 hours and 39 minutes. sigh...
Here is my list of things to do today.
1. edit and print family pictures to GIVE AS GIFTS to some of my family. Talk about waiting until the last minute...geez
2. wrap every single gift I bought. but first I have to bring them in from the van. Yes...they are still there.
3. make sure I have bought for everyone. if not, I have to add shopping to this list.
4. clean my entire house so that on Christmas day I wont feel like mopping minutes before my guests arrive.
5. figure out my Christmas outfit. I have not had time to shop for myself. IF I have to do any more holiday shopping (see number 3 on this list) then I will get something new for myself. If not...I will dig deep in the closet...and pray something fits.
6. find the girls black shoes for their dresses for Christmas Eve mass. I know they have some...but where are they?
7. wrap and deliver our charity Christmas gifts. I think they were due yesterday...but surely they wont refuse them...
8. go to the grocery store that will be spilling over with people and buy 2 things.
9. I do have a maternity portrait session scheduled today as well..that should fit in huh?
10. go the bank and wait in line with everyone else who waited until today to go.
11. load the van back up with Christmas gifts that are wrapped and ready to go.
12. rehearse with Briana for her Christmas caroling tomorrow at mass.

now I know there is more...this seems much shorter than the list I had going on in my head. hard to believe right? well...wish me luck! I better get started. I'm now down 2 hours and 49 minutes.

Merry Christmas to all of you! I hope that after the holidays I can get back to regular posting. How about I just add that to my list? :)

Back in the first part of November, Janette Hickerson asked me to photograph a wedding with her. I grabbed all the guys and we headed out for some ...um...interesting times! They were hilarious! This is only a taste of what we got ourselves into!! :)

the wedding was held at 7F Lodge in College Station, TX. Beautiful place. Very secluded and romantic.

The guitar player was wonderful. He sang...it was very nice.

and the happy couple. I dont know the bride and groom..and being the second, I didnt meet them until their big day. I will say that my first impression of the couple was nothing but good. They seem very committed, very prepared, and most importantly...very much in love! I wish them nothing but the best.

This isnt really a sneak peek. I was a second photographer for Sarah Shalley a few weekends ago. Here are a few images from that weekend.

Mark and Kara...I didnt know either one coming into this. I knew what Sarah told me about Mark. I knew he was her friend and he was adorable.

After meeting both Mark and Kara I discovered something unexpected. Comfort. I have never been around a couple like Mark and Kara. They met 9 months before their wedding, but they loved each other with such ease and familiarity. I was simply amazed at the way they cared for each other. It was if they had known each other for years. It was as if they had loved each other for a lifetime.

Their ceremony was beautiful. Before I was married, weddings didn't do much for me. I mean they were fun but I was rarely emotionally touched. Now, I cry almost every time. Maybe just a tear or a knot in my throat. This wedding was again...different...I laughed. I cried. I missed my husband. I wanted to clap. I was bursting with emotions, and I didn't even know this couple!! It was great!

Mark and Kara, I wish you a lifetime of happiness. I don't think that is wishful thinking! You already have that about you. I was so happy to have met you.

Sarah, thank you for asking me to come along! It felt like old times! From playing dress up in our drill team uniforms to playing photographer with our cameras...you are a great friend! Thank you again!

Its been a very long time since doing Briana's pictures. She is one of the most photogenic kids I know. You almost never get a bad picture of her. I fixed her hair and handed her a dress. She looked at it, turned up her nose, and said "THATS not a wedding dress MOM!" I asked her why she thought she would be wearing a wedding dress? She said that I always take pictures of brides so why wasnt she a bride? I smiled..almost said no way ...but then told her go ahead and dress up as a bride. She was THRILLED. so..here we have a sneak peek of Briana in 20 years....as a bride. And I must say, a very beautiful one!

About a week before Hurricane Ike hit, Juan decided to finally pressure wash our house. This brick is forever old and needed a good spring...fall cleaning! While he was busy working on that, I decided to follow the girls around the yard and take a peek into their world.

Ike was NO joke! We had no major damage from the storm but we were without power and water for 5 days! Power came on last night around 8pm. Im back..Im busy but Im back! I hope to get back to regular posts asap! I have quite a bit to catch up on but I promise to update really soon!

Its late..I know..but I finally got around to getting the pics uploaded. Here are a few from the party.

About 3 minutes before we were ready to get out the door and head over to the party, I smelled something strange...like....nailpolish. ?? Check out what Avah did...

The theme of her party was camo...so it kind of looked like she just got done hunting..haha

I have a 2 year old!

Im going to my best to re-tell her birth story.

August 30, 2006. We got up at the crack of dawn. I hadnt slept ALL night. I wasnt nervous but I had bad gas...yuck yes...but when you are pregnant you get it. I was convinced I shouldnt have eaten Grandma's fried foods the night before. We had to be there at 6:30am to be induced. We walked in and got settled into our delivery room. The nurses came in with their 5438 questions. I was starving. But I couldnt eat. The nurse started taking my blood (that is all the detail I can give about that because even writing about it makes me queasy) and I came ::this close::: to passing out. She gave me the oxygen mask and continued her vampire procedures. They said they would be back in around 8am to start the pitocin. So I waited..still having gas pains. They came in right around 8 and started the pitocin. Then they hooked me up to the monitors. Of course, I wanted the heart monitor turned up loud. I love to hear the baby's heartbeat. It relaxes me and keeps me in focus. I started getting STRONG contractions within about 5 minutes..which isnt too normal. Avah didnt like the pitocin at all. Her heart was racing above the "normal" lines and the nurses had me turn this way..turn that way....lay like this....stay RIGHT there..no wait turn this way... There was talk of a c-section if her heart rate didnt slow. I was getting nervous but I tried to stay calm for the sake of the baby. Right then (about 9am) my doctor walked in. I love my doctor. He is the greatest. Anyway....he walks in and says to take the pitocin off and see what happens. He thinks I may already be in labor because the contractions started so quickly. I told him about my gas and he said it was not gas..it was contractions. YAY! I was induced with Briana so I was stoked to be doing this on my own. When I got to the hospital, I was at 3 cm. So he checked me then and I was at 4cm. I asked if I could walk the halls and he said yes. Walk for an hour and then he would be back to check me. Well I walked for an hour. All the while, I was having contractions. They were strong, but not too bad. Not bad like pitocin contractions. Those are bears. Well by then it was about 11am and it was time to get strapped back on the monitors. My doctor came back and I was still at 4 so he said we should try pitocin and see what happens. ugh....we started it again and immediately it was hell. I was having MAJOR contractions within 5 minutes again so he turned it off. He said he would be back at noon to break my water. The contractions stopped and I rested until he got there. He walked in right when the Bold and the Beautiful was starting..12:30pm. He broke my water...torture...He said I was at 5cm. He said NO pitocin...just rest. He had some bad news though. Avah pooped already and that was dangerous. He said I would need to have my uterus flushed within the next hour. He said its super painful and he strongly suggested I get an epidural. Now...Im not good with needles. ESPECIALLY LONG needles. so...I hesitated. As I was thinking about it my contratctions started up again. This time they were strong and long. They were different. So, I agreed to the epi. So, we waited. There were about 25 other babies being born on this day. lol. So we had to wait for the epi....I was at the end of the list I guess..Well, by this time, it was 1PM. The contractions were getting unbearable. They never stopped. It was like ONE LONG contraction. I had the urge to push already! Its only been 1 hour!!! no way... The nurse thought I was a wimp and basically told me I was crazy to think it was time to push. But no....it was time. I could tell. Finally, after some not so nice words from me, she checked me. 10cm...crowning. See? I TOLD YOU! So she said DONT PUSH and CALL THE DOCTOR! My doctor literally runs across the street and Avah is born after 2 pushes. 1:47pm. 1:49pm, the anesthesiologist walks in..haha! no thanks! I dont need you anymore!!!

She was 7lbs 4oz. PERFECT.
They whisked her away to pump her stomach of her nasty poo....And when they gave her to me, she nursed like a champ. I was so proud! I had my newborn nursing before the lactation consultant made it to the room! I was that good! haha!

For those of you who know Avah, you know her birth story suits her. She is always on the go. Always in a hurry. Always causing trouble. : ) She is creative and smart. Funny and sweet. Strong and mean. She is wonderful. She has me wrapped around her finger...literally...she wraps my hair around her fingers while she is sleeping...lol.

Happy Birthday sweet girl. We love you!

Some nights I go to bed and I think...did my girls learn anything at all today? Was I a good example or did they learn one of my bad habits? ( I don't have THAT many....) I am sure I am not the only parent who thinks that. Well tonight I heard something that gave me a little reassurance. The girls were in the shower. I lathered up Briana's hair. She stepped back to rinse her hair off. Avah stepped towards me "do me mom!" So I lathered up her hair too. I closed the curtain and while I was rinsing off my hands in the sink, I heard Avah. She said, " scuse me Bi Bi. I winse too" (Translation: Excuse me Bri Bri. I rinse too :) ) Apparently Briana scooted over. Avah followed with, " tank you bi bi. I uv you." Briana said, "here let me help you keep the soap from your eyes." Avah said, "::giggle:: tank you bi bi no soap in de eyes!"
How sweet and POLITE was that?

Maybe its not a huge deal to some but to me it was wonderful! I have always disliked bad grammar and bad manners. (I don't claim to be and expert in grammar though...especially when writing..but slang and speaking ugly to one another just drive me insane! Especially little kids! It was music to my ears!!

OK enough mommy bragging! I promise to post pictures of Avah's birthday party. (and family reunion/going away party for my brother and brother in law) I hope to get to that tomorrow.

Another thing! Allen leaves tomorrow for California! If you don't mind, say a prayer or two for him. I know he is so excited but I am sure he could use a little extra strength, good health, and a great deal of patience and energy! We all know boot camp is no walk in the park! Good luck Allen!

So yesterday morning I went to my computer like always. Coffee ...check. Toast....check. Girls watching Mickey Mouse....check. Computer on......no! It wouldnt turn on!!! what the...? ugh! So I am freaking out..OMG what happened? How will I make it through the day? OMG OMG OMG! Juan calms me down. He said it can be fixed. It can be replaced. Its going to be OK. (he always manages to calm me down) So my brother in law sends his 1/2 working laptop over. It works but the screen is shot. I hooked it up to my monitor. So I look super cool sitting at a transformer style computerish system here. 1/2 laptop 1/2 desktop..haha. I guess my sister felt sorry for me too so she sent over her laptop as well. LOL! I had computer parts scattered all over the dining room. I looked like I knew what I was doing too! haha!

So anyway, I am past freaking out. I think it will all be ok!!

I did manage to eat a few ....or several ice cream sandwiches...again..darn blue bell. (I heart you) I am blaming it on the stress..thats my story and I am sticking to it!

This morning I got up and went to the "gym" I guess I can call it that. Its really a physical therapy center. I joined their wellness program. It was pretty fun too. The physical therapist is even putting together a nice workout program for me. How awesome is that? Its like I have a personal trainer!!! She got me good today too! My legs are cursing her...but my spirit is thanking her. A good workout really does wonders for you! I look forward to going back! My goal is to be in super good shape when my brother and brother in law come home from the Marines. I hope to be able to go for a nice run with them...and keep up. haha! Pretty big goal I know!

Avah is a big girl now :(

We took the crib down today.....sadly. She was using it as a toddler bed. And a trampoline. I decided it was time to take it down in hopes of bringing it out for a new baby soon :) If we didn't take it down now, it may not make it for the next baby! haha!

Anyway, the girls are now sharing a bed. (at least for the first 1/2 of the night) So tonight was their first night together in their "new bed" (its not new, but Briana seems to feel a newness thanks to her new bed mate)

Its 9:39 right now. They got in bed at 9:16. So far we have had 1 spilled mimi (sippy cup), switched sides....3 times, a threat of biting, Baby Foo was stolen and returned, Avah escaped 3 times. Once to the living room. Once under the bed. Once in the closet.

I hope they figure this out before midnight. :)

I did join the Wellness Center today though..so maybe I can maintain this weight instead of loosing weight like I wanted too. HAHA!

say a prayer or two (or more if you would like) for my cousin. She is due with her first child in September. There is a pretty good chance they will have to take the baby early due to some complications. She and the baby could use prayers. Please pray for her safety and piece of mind...as I am sure this is very hard on her. Also, please pray that her sweet baby boy is growing stronger and stronger by the moment so that when he arrives he will be healthy and able to take on this big world!! Thank you!!

Ok so today was fabulous! I had a bridal session in Independence with Sandy. Sandy was my best friend from 5th grade though graduation. We lost touch for several years...but we recently contacted each other. Talking to Sandy is so wonderful. Its so easy and normal and it feels like home...its just great!! I always knew she was a life long friend...and now I know what that really means. We probably went 3 to 4 years without speaking..not much anyway...and yet...we still have a connection-a friendship-that time just didn't touch. I love that. I love this girl and when she asked me to be her wedding photographer I almost squealed with delight!!!

Anyway, today I get up and get ready. I grab coffee at Exxon and head to the Rose Emporium....I am about 5 miles south of my destination when it begins to rain. I mean...seriously? It doesn't rain here when a hurricane hits but it rains TODAY! When I have plans! UGH! I begin to stress..Sandy is driving all the way from Austin and to what? rain? in a wedding dress! I don't think so! But what does Sandy say? She says...what the hell...lets do it! yeah..she is that hardcore! hehe..

So we slosh around with umbrellas and sheets and we get the job done! It was awesome! She really really wants me to post a sneak peak...and I don't normally do this for brides...because they don't normally want this. But I will do this for her. Just TWO pictures. She gets her gallery but the rest of you will have to wait! And its worth the wait! She is a stunning bride!

Last night I went to the Free to Succeed tour given by David Jay and Jasmine Star -two of my favorite photographers! It was freaking awesome. I was like..star struck! I didn't expect to ...shake hands and hug David Jay and Jasmine Star. I didn't expect to have conversations with them. I didn't expect to sit within 6 feet of them. It was just so ...wow. I also met Shyla. She was the cutest thing ever. I learned so much and felt so much love in the room. These people could have easily looked right through us...they are that good...but instead, they cared, they loved, they embraced...I was beyond impressed at their ability to really bring themselves back to where we are...starting out...and share with us as much as time would allow. I have kept up with them through blogs and such...and felt like I "knew" them...but they surpassed my every expectation with flying colors. We are so lucky to have people like them in our industry. There was so much to learn and absorb....I feel like my brain has a big puddle of information just waiting to be soaked up! I need to sit and process it all. I cant thank David Jay, Jasmine Star, and sweet sweet Shyla enough for everything they did yesterday. I feel a great change coming! Thanks a million guys!

What happens when you take the T out of Train?

you get RAIN! and lots of it! We went to Zilker Park to ride the train. We get on...its HOT and the breeze felt SO good. Suddenly..the sky opens up and it POURS. I mean POURS! We were pretty far from the "train station" so the "conductor" toot toots over to the station very slowly....by the time we get there we are dripping wet. The stroller, the diaper bag, my NEW purse ..all of it was completely soaked. So yeah...we got a little more than we bargained for today! LOL..we were a miserable pack of wet rats on the long drive back to the hotel. Anyway, we dried up and went to eat and now its funny! Ok back to my vacation!! I planned on posting pictures but I forgot to bring a card reader...and my cable..UGH

Ok so change of plans! Tropical Storm Dolly decided to ruin our beach plans. So..after sulking and moaning and groaning for all of 20 minutes, we decided NO WAY! we are going to Austin! We are having a NO BOYS ALLOWED weekend! Its going to be awesome! Shopping, movies, picnics, swimming, FUN, FUN, FUN! I cant wait! YAY!

Each day this week has felt like Friday. I think its because I am SO ready to go to the beach. I am ready to be away from this desk. Dont get me wrong, I love working on your 834820 pictures but I am feeling the burn of the same old same old....its flame is growing! I need a change of pace...if only for a few days. We are only going to Galveston....not the most beautiful beach..but one full of memories...We (when I say we I mean my Grandma, me, and the girls) are staying in the same condo we use to stay in when I was little. I still remember the summer vacations at the beach....with all the cousins and crazy Aunts. Those were some GREAT times. (Aside from the whole closet fiasco! haha) I hope we can recreate some of that for my kids. We plan on doing all the fun girly stuff you can do in Galveston...the stuff that men dont want to do...haha..My husband and the rest of the family will be joining us here and there through out our stay. It should be pretty eventful...in a laid back kind of way. So that is what is on my mind. I cant get it out of my mind. So yeah, each day feels like Friday. I think my Grandma is suffering from this same problem. She asked me on Tuesday if it was Friday. hahaha! At least I am not alone in this.

Enough about that!

Today we hung out around the house. The girls went to see Grandma this afternoon and after I watered and "mudded" Jolene (our pig) we ended up playing in Grandma's yard. We had a good time, but it got late...quick...and I got tired. So we came home thinking we would all just crawl in bed. But now I am wide awake...so I am here...rambling...

Ok, I love being a mom. I really reallly do. But today has been one of those pull your hair out, cry in a pillow kind of days. Both girls are very fussy and cranky. Nothing is making them happy. Most of the day has been spent in tears...them not me...although I wouldnt mind joining in at this point. sigh...

But, I still got a couple of cute pics of Avah today. She decided to hang out in the window for a bit. I think I am about to take them outside for some fresh humid air. I know I will be miserable but it HAS to be better than what we have going on in here! :)

I took the girls over to the Kramer's house (very cool people...thanks Sarah for the meetup!) to pick out kittens! Our sweet Jessie (worlds greatest kid-proof cat) is getting a little big for them. Avah picked out a sweet black kitten she (Juan) named Shadow. Shadow runs to Avah..despite being carried by his neck...she is trying to carry him right! She really is! Holly is quite possibly a boy but he doesnt mind the name. Briana couldnt come up with anything else that she loved. She told me that the kitten loved the name too... :)

I told Briana I wanted to take a picture of Holly. So she said "Holly, look at the camera honey" LOL

Sarah and I lost touch for many years, but she will always have a special place in my heart. She was with me during one of the MOST awful times of my life. I wont get into that, but I will forever be grateful for her friendship during that time.

Yep! Briana started swimming lessons today. She LOVED it. She didnt want to leave! She wasnt nervous, she put her face under water, she was just a big girl! She was still the same old Briana. Bossy, girly, and all grown up. She was in and out of the water. She had to potty, she needed goggles, her suit needed to be tied again. She was so funny. Anyway, here are a few pics from today. I couldnt get too many because Avah was with me, and she was NOT happy that Briana got to go "sh-wimming" and she didnt!

House Vent

I am just a blogging fool lately huh? I have found it to be a great outlet! I don't know who reads this...probably not too many people..but its nice to just write to anyone....

Well the last few months have been FULL of photography. Its all I do. I have been consumed by the shutter-bug..LOL! sorry..ok anyway, my house has suffered. I am a neat freak. Everything has its place. I like the way a simple, organized home looks. I like way it smells. I like the way it feels. My house is far from that right now. I am on a mission this week. I am going to get ONE room organized each day. And I mean ORGANIZED. I cant stand this any longer. Wish me luck!

There is so much to be done other than that though. I want to paint the dining room, kitchen, and bathroom. I need curtains EVERYWHERE. I need new furniture in most rooms. My kitchen needs more work than I can even describe. Each window needs new screens. The screen door needs a new screen. They yard needs weeding. The house needs painting. I need shutters on the windows. The front porch needs a face lift. This is only a portion of what needs to be done. We live in an OLD house and it needs so much love. The everyday wear and tear of kids is almost more than this old house can take. I owe it to my self, my granny, and my kids to make this house a home. I am determined to do that this summer! Its my new goal. I will add it to my goal list. LOL!

Want some? Well, Wednesday I had a session in College Station. The next day I went to get my memory cards and get to working...they were GONE. yes G O N E. I could not find them anywhere! I searched my entire van, the entire house, called everyone who may know...posted an add on Craigslist...I went crazy! I was stressing...wondering WHY stuff like this always happens to me? Just UGH!! Well that night, I had a little talk with St. Anthony. Anyway, the next day I was sitting here shopping for more memory cards....when I had a flashback to a dream I had that night. In the dream I found the memory card case under the seat of my van. I was thinking NO way because I looked there! I did! Well I figured it wouldn't hurt to look. Maybe God was telling me that is where it is! So I go out there...open the van door, bend down, and yes....there it was. Under the van seat just like in my dream.

So did that give you chills? It sure gave me chills!!!

Well I started running today. I have talked about this for like...ever...we will see how it goes! I think if I can just do it for a full 30 days it will become a habit. LOL! There is a pasture behind our house. Juan took his truck and went around it. He said its a little over a mile. So...I figured that would be a good place to start. So, I took my two small dogs (Molly and Lucky) and we went running. All was good until a huge dog came barreling through the pasture. He was headed right at me and wasn't wearing a collar so I got a little nervous. All of a sudden a lady (who I don't know but apparently lives behind me???) came running out screaming NO SHOOTER NO!..I am freaking out. Literally. I was panting since I am so out of shape and trying to figure out how I can scoop up my small but heavy dogs and jump a barbed wire fence...it wasn't happening so I freeze. I am not scared of dogs...but he was huge, fast, and looked like he was ready to eat my dogs. The lady couldn't get him to listen. He didn't do much, but if he got near me my dogs would growl and snarl and just act like they were ready to rip him to shreds if he even so much as looked at me. ( I was so proud of them..lol) Somehow, after about 20 minutes, the lady manages to lift the massive dog and carry him home. He wouldn't do it any other way. Of course, he was growling and snapping at her (HOW do people own dogs and not train them?)....so anyway, I do hope to continue running..but I wont hit up the back pasture again! Guess Juan will have to find me somewhere else to run!

Anyway, aside from that we had a great day. After church, the girls and I had lunch with Grandma and then when Juan got home we grabbed a saddle from Mawma and Pawpa and went out to my parents house. We hung out at the hog pen..yuck...but I got to take pictures so that was fun. Then we rode the horses for a while. It was HOT so we cut it short and came home. I will get those pictures of the hogs and dogs posted for my Dad and his hog buddies tomorrow! Had fun guys, but that is not my cup of tea so don't expect me to be your own personal paparazzi! hehe

I hope you all had a fabulous 4th of July! We had a great time! After Juan got off work (yes he had to work! UGH!) we headed out to White Hall to our friends house. Philip and Karen had a great party for all of us! We just had a great time with the Lara family! The kids played in the hot tub -and loved it- until Briana fell backwards over the side and landed on her back. It was a horrible noise. I still cringe when I think about it. Luckily a porch swing broke her fall and she walked away with a very small scrape on the middle of her back. She had some mild swelling but an ice pack took care of that. She was running wild again within 10 minutes. Needless to say, the hot tub was closed and out of business for the rest of the day. :) They played on the "slither slide" otherwise known as a Slip and Slide. haha. I think they changed from clothes to swimsuits about 10 times yesterday. They just couldn't decide! There was hopscotch to hop, 4wheelers to ride (the toy kind), a pony to ride (although that never happened), a slither slide..I mean slip and slide to well...slip and slide on...so they had alot of fun! Then, Grandpa took the girls in the jeep and us grown ups got on the 4wheelers (not the toy kind) and went exploring. Karen and Philip have a GREAT piece of property out there. We had so much fun. The girls fell asleep on a quilt that was rolled out on the back of the jeep. (and for the record, he didn't drive faster than maybe 2 miles per hour. lol...so don't flame me!..this was a pasture..not a road...NO traffic haha) Juan and I were on one 4 wheeler and my parents were on the other. Juans dad and Philip took a truck, the girls were in the jeep with Gramps, and Karen and Grandma stayed on the porch to relax. Everyone else had already left. We rode around until dark and went up over the lake to watch the fireworks. There were shows going on pretty much all around us. We just moved around and ooh'd and ahh'd! There was even talk of a custom built fireworks viewing stand...hmmm. LOL! Anyway, here are a few pics. The rest can be found here.

Lately Avah has been really interested in the potty. She asks to go potty a few times a week...and she does it just fine, I just don't push her. I know I know....I should but I am not that kind of mom. I want her to stay a baby! LOL! Well today...she has ONLY gone potty. Like 5 times already. I am impressed by her self teaching. haha. But I am also disappointed. I have this cute 4th of July diaper I bought (remember, we cloth diaper) and now she doesn't want to wear it! She wants Barney panties. Barney? She doesn't even watch Barney...LOL!

Anyway, I better get busy. I need to make a huge batch of potato salad and get ready for the party.
